Myanglung ( म्याङलुङ )Bazaar
Myanglung Bazaar, the district headquarters of Terhathum of Province No. 1 in Eastern Nepal, is a municipality situated at an elevation of 1500-1600 meters above sea level.The municipality was converted from a village development committee on 18 May 2014, merging the existing village development committees of Jirikhimtee, Piple, Ambung, Patigaun, Sabla, Tamphula, and Myanglung along with Tehrathum. Myanglung was earlier a province of Pallo Kiraat.
Myanglung got its name from a mythological story about a cat meowing. The sound "myang" means cat, and "lung" means stone in the Kirat Limbu language. According to the myth, the cat "myang" pawed at a stone in anger, leaving a mark on the stone that still exists at the entrance of the Myanglung Bazaar.
People worship the stone with flowers while entering the main bazaar. The location of Myanglung in moderate elevation provides an ambient climate throughout the year, making it a suitable place for people to live and visit.
